Monika MHz, an openly queer translatina and honoree of the 2013 inaugural Trans 100, is a house producer and DJ from Portland, OR. Beyond her musical and public persona contributions, she is a freelance writer and speaker on issues of domestic/intimate partner violence, sexual violence, feminism, HIV and sexual health.

She is the executive director and founder of Trans Women in Real Life, dedicated to direct-action work that benefits the trans women of Portland, while centering the needs of trans women of color and trans women sex-workers. Through TwIRL she has been providing in-home non-clinical HIV testing for trans women since 2014.

She regularly speaks at universities, classrooms, media, and her writing has been featured in college classrooms as well as print and online media. Whether she's writing or speaking frankly about sex, putting into perspective hard to process statistics, or doing the often invisible direct action work she works to bridge academic feminism and real world impacts.

You can currently find her writing at her blog, PQMonthly (print and web), or she might be freelancing today at your favorite media outfit.
